报告人:Professor K.T.V. Grattan

报告人简介:

K.T.V. Grattan,英国皇家工程院院士、国际测量联合会主席、国际测量领域旗舰期刊Measurement主编,曾担任过英国伦敦城市大学工程与数学学院院长和研究生院院长。

Grattan教授领导英国伦敦城市大学光纤传感技术研究团队在光学传感与测控仪器领域共计发表1200多篇国际期刊及会议论文,拥有基于光学手段的工业监测仪器及系统多项发明专利,出版光纤传感技术专著共5卷,其研究成果被国际同行广泛引用。

报告主要内容:

本讲座将系统性回顾光电子学和光子学的学科的背景、历史沿革和基本原理,描述目前该学科领域的发展前景和市场,展望未来该领域的快速增长潜力和巨大发展前景。

Title: Optics, Optoelectronics and Photonics – an overview

SpeakerProfessor K.T.V. Grattan

Speaker’s Introduction

Professor K.T.V. Grattan is the Dean of Optoelectronic School. He was elected President of the International Measurement Confederation (IMEKO) in 2014, serving from 2015 to 2018.  He was elected to the Royal Academy of Engineering, the UK National Academy of Engineering, in 2008.  Professor Grattan has been Deputy Editor of the Journal Measurement Science and Technology for several years and currently serves on the Editorial Board of several major journals in his field in the USA and Europe. In January 2001 he was appointed Editor of the IMEKO Journal Measurement and also serves on their General Council. He is the author and co-author of over seven hundred refereed publications in major international journals and at conferences and is the co-editor (with Professor B T Meggitt) of a five volume topical series on Optical Fiber Sensor Technology.  His work is highly cited by his peers nationally and internationally. He is a Visiting Professor at several major Universities in China, with strong links to Harbin Engineering University and the Shandong Academy of Sciences.

Contents:

This lecture will review the background, history and underpinning principles of the fields of optoelectronics and photonics showing how this has emerged from optics and electronics.  The lecture will look at the future prospects and markets for this technology for the 2020s and beyond and enormous prospects for the field.
